My daughters are beautiful. l am proud when people compliment me on their looks.
BUT
It's not an accomplishment simply genetic good fortune.
AND
Fortunate that their looks are what is considered good looking .
In a different dimension it may be big ears and warty noses that make up beautiful.
If my daughters were born with looks that society considers ugly would l have loved them less less or been less proud of them?
No I would have still been very proud because their looks are not the reason that they are awesome human beings.
Why then do l look at their beauty and feel pride?
Does it make me shallow?
Are we all a bit shallow ?
Do we place too much value on appearances ?
It's simply the way we are wired. We are drawn to symmetrical faces, the definition of beauty. Though I do believe we are all a bit shallow sometimes, I don't think it makes you a 'shallow person' when you take pride in your daughters' beauty. Only if that was the only thing you considered important. And it's not. So cheers on your beautiful daughters!
