Tossing and Turning

Its late I am tired I have been working on writing for clients all I want to do is sleep.

I get in bed.

Then a party wakes up in my mind.

In side my head looks like this:

I get up I drink water.

I climb back into bed.

I close my eyes.

I try to fill my head with calm quiet images:

The party carries on in my head.

Then I get the IDEA

(This IDEA can be about anything, last night it was about a client that has not paid me for writing work and that I should check if they published my work NOW.)

I toss, I turn, I toss

So I get out of bed again and fetch my laptop.

I type the letter/article/blog post/ do research.

When I send letters, write articles or blog posts,  I usually wish that I had not in the morning.  Those exhausted 2 am IDEAS are rarely any good.  They are usually gibberish.

After sorting out the IDEA, you would think that I would finally get some sleep.

My nose is runny so I get up and get tissues.

I get back into bed.

I toss, I turn, I toss

I need to wee so I get up and go to the loo.

I get back into bed.

I toss, I turn, I toss.

I suddenly remember something urgent and important that I was supposed to take care off."

Lastnight it was:

"Mila's birthday tomorrow must get Dr Seuss story books

There is nothing I can do at 3am, 4am, 5am so I:

Toss, turn, toss

My sister told me that a friend sent out this message:

"I am tired and I cannot fall asleep so I am going to masturbate."

A few seconds later.....

"Oh wait I meant menstruate."

A few seconds later....

"Oops, I meant meditate."

That is why you don't message people when you are tired.

So to those involved regarding the whatsapp conversation about the nose pic looking like a penis on whatsapp, I was silly tired OK and in my defense it really does.

  1. Every time I come here I laugh out loud. This post reminds me of the website, Damn you, Autocorrect. Hilarious text messages. When I can't sleep I lie there talking to myself, not out loud. I refuse to get up, even though that's what the "experts" say to do. Get up and do something. I figure, erroneously, that if I get up I'm done for, I'll never get back to sleep. In fact, lying there telling myself I'll fall asleep any minute doesn't work either. I keep meaning to get a prescription for some hip pharmaceutical the tv commercials make me believe would make my life better. :)

  2. I have these herbal drops from my sister that really help me sleep but getting out of bed to take them seems to much effort then instead I spend the entire night tossing and turning.
