Privacy

I love my blog and I always enjoyed being free on it to tell anything.  However the events of the past few days have made me consider closing it down for good.  I had somebody that hired me for work personally threaten me with details he took off my blog.  I am not too worried about him.  The freelance site that I source my work from has promised to address this issue.  I however have suffered a far worse infringment on my privacy.  A threat from the past has reared its ugly head.  A horrible past of violence and abuse that my family and I had hoped was long behind us.  I was too free with my information, I wrongly thought I was safe in my own space. I will have to assess and decide whether it will be better to close this site for good.

  3. I know that there are things in our pasts that we try to move past and sometimes they do try to haunt us. I work diligently to keep those people from finding my internet presence so I understand your position. I hope you are able to work through it and if not, then may your next endeavor be fruitful.

  6. Thank you,  I wish I had been as vigilant as you.  I came in contact with somebody that I am very fond of from the past.  I know I should not have but it is through this contact that other people found our details.  It is my fault and I don't blame this person but I should have rather left all contact.

I'm so sorry you've had to go through that.  I started my blog assuming that I would eventually go back to teaching, so I left most identifying information off.  Then, after a year, I decided to go ahead and use my name, since I didn't think I'd go back to public school teaching and since I wanted to make a go of writing on the internet.  But I worry sometimes about how I'm invading my son's privacy by writing about him.  I keep him anonymous, although I doubt it would take much to figure things out, and I try to think about what my words will mean for him in the future.  I'm sorry you have had to deal with the ugliest side of the privacy/internet conundrum.  Sending good thoughts your way.  I hope you find a satisfying way to keep yourself safe and private.

  8. Emily thank you.  After careful consideration my only concern is that certain people never track our residential address detail.  The thing is I made the mistake of assuming that certain very computer illiterate people would never have found their way to the internet, big mistake.  We have put up all the security blocks necessary on Facebook and I realised that there is not much they can find out from my blog.
